Terengganu Dialect as a Medium of Communication

Abstract

Local dialect is the most effective communication tool for conveying ideas, thoughts, intentions and goals among local people. In addition, dialect is one aspect of culture. As one of the manifestations of culture, dialect has a very important role in human life. In every culture, dialect is a fundamental element found in society. The diversity of dialect in society, both in a wide scope, as well as state languages. The people of Terengganu use this dialect as a communication tool in their daily interactions to create a harmonious relationship. This dialect is not alone spoken by the Malay community, even the Chinese and Indians speak this dialect fluently.
